On-Campus Campaigns

  • School Spirit Initiatives: We are excited to be involved in organizing Raider Madness at McNeil, which will take place on Dec 1st from 7-8pm. This will be the debut of the SOU mascot as well as an introduction and showcase of men’s and women’s basketball teams. Tryouts for the mascot will be held on November 12th; more information can found on CareerLink. The week of Nov 16th-19th, we will be having “Hawk the Vote”, an opportunity for students to vote on the name for the mascot.

  • Food Advisory Committee: We are part of a joint effort between RHA (Resident Hall Association) and ASSOU to create an advisory committee for Sodexo to help advise the direction of the food services on campus. Members have been seated and the first meeting is to be announced. In the future of this committee, they will looking at doing a food evaluation of the services here on campus.

  • Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell: Our goal is to unite our campus in an effort to fight the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy on the national level. This is a legislative fight and not meant to divide our campus. We’ve always taken a stance against discrimination. We are supportive of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (HR 1283) and are encouraging our legislators to support it. We believe that ROTC provides academic support and assistance to students and are hoping that through the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, this opportunity can be opened to all students.
